Canon BJC-250 wont print

Im trying to print from MS Word a rather simple text document, nothing unusual.  My printer prints a line or two of weird symbols then it spits the page out and proceeds to do the same thing to the next page, and so on until the paper runs out.  I reinstalled drivers and checked all the possible connections.  I tried printing from different word processors it all turns out the same.  This is beyond annoying and I really need to print this document, please help me out here.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Could be a bad printer cable.
Delete the printer from the printer control panel.  Then, get the cd for the printer and reinstall the software.  It will reload the drivers.  It sounds like the pc is sending the data through the wrong or a corrupted driver.
I'd go one step further than biard and remove the printer port from device manager too.

I'd also check the printer port mode in the BIOS and make sure it is not set to ECP, EPP or ECP/EPP -  most Canon bubblejets will only work properly on SPP (sometimes called Normal or Bi_Directional)

You may want to download the latest drivers from when you reload the driver.

Do the above and I think you'll be away!
