Window Explorer thumbnail

In windows explorer if you are viewing the folder as a web page a preview is shown for certain files (bmp, gif, jpeg etc.)

After Pagemaker 6.5 and Photoshop was installed on the computer jpeg and gif files do not generate a preview anymore.

I have tried re-installation of PM 6.5, Windows, Photoshop, PSP 5 etc but nothin works.  Can anyone tell me how to get the thumbnail previews back for the graphic files.

============================

First, open windows explorer and find a bmp file and click once to highlight. Now hold the shift key down and right click on the same file and choose open with and then select which program you wish to use to open the bmp. Repeat the process for the other file formats.

Next, check these regsitry entires to make certain they are present and that the data is correct.

Verify that the following entries exist in the:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\<file type> registry

key for the type of file you are trying to preview:

   Registry Key: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\<file type>\ShellEx]

   Registry Key: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\<file
   type>\ShellEx\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]

   Value: (Default)="{7376D660-C583-11d0-A3A5-00C04FD706EC}"

Have no effect? Did you check the reg entries to make sure they were all present and that the data lines matched what I posted for each one?
