Word 6 macro gpf

We use a Word 6 macro to custom build a set of specifications for different products.  The specifications are inserted from separate files.

Whenever the marco hits the line
marked below I get a gpf, but not all the time.  Sometimes a reboot will stop
the gpfs, sometimes time will.
Following is a snippet of the macro:

'ALIGN Y2K STATEMENT

EditBookmark .Name = "Y2K", .SortBy = 1, .Goto
JustifyPara
FontSize 10
FormatParagraph .RightIndent = "-0.38" + Chr$(34)
LineDown 1
InsertPageBreak
' Aligning Warranty Statement '

EditGoTo .Destination = "WARRANTY"
FormatParagraph .LeftIndent = "0" + Chr$(34), .RightIndent = "0" +
Chr$(34), .FirstIndent = "0" + Chr$(34)
LineDown 1
CharLeft 1
EditFind .Find = "Manufacturer's ", .Direction = 0
ExtendSelection
EndOfLine
FontSize 16
LineDown 1

EditGoTo .Destination = "YEAR2000"
CenterPara

******WORD HANGS HERE************
EditGoTo .Destination = "WARRANTY"
FontSize 10

EditGoTo .Destination = "Terms"
JustifyPara
CharLeft 1
CenterPara

EditGoTo .Destination = "terms"
FontSize 8
FormatParagraph .RightIndent = "-0.50" + Chr$(34)

I get the standard "Word has encountered
an error..."  ,then a Win 95 gpf.

Hi Loranne,

Could you state the exact error messages you are getting (respectively "Word has encountered..." and especially the "GPF error message".

The first error that comes up is the general word error.  I beleive it goes someting like this:

"Word has encountered an error ...,"
And you have two options, either cancel or ignore. - Either option shuts down word.

I tried to recreate the error to get the exact text, but I couldn't.  That is what is so strange about this error.  It is not always recreateable.

But I did get a screen dump of the general protection fault that comes up afterward the last time we encountered the error:

"WINWORD caused a general protection
fault in module WINWORD.EXE at 00e3:000019ad."

Do you need the registers info as well?

Hi loranne,

The info you gave should be sufficient for the search I did on MSKB. Is the name "YEAR200" EditGoTo .Destination = "YEAR2000" the name of a bookmark in a textbox in header/footer ?

Following article points out something alike (it seems like a MS bug):

Hope this helps,

Sorry, I had trouble logging into EE for a while.  Currently, we have taken
allow fast saves & save every XX minutes
off.  We haven't had a crash since changing these settings.  I am optimistic, but not completely convinced the bug is gone.  Another week or two of crash free computing or if we run into a crash - solve the problem by turning these settings off or modifying the template code and the points are yours.
