no sound after install

i did a full install from dos on a pent 100mhz (nec w/ pheonix bios), when first run it was ok after second start up no sound,midi devices or files.tried to reinstall fromm cd but says "file not found iccvid.dll, ir32-32.dll,sndvol.32.exe etc etc..."the only things i can get installed are the game port joy stic and wave device for voice modem. also under the system device mgr i have a ? + shows "ess es1869plug&play audio drive" twice.this is a used comp that crashed put in new hd (quantum) and format/s install was fine all ran at first boot

also do not know what kind of monitor windows will only give 16 colors no moe no matter????

upping points to try for help,,, im taking MCSE+I and A+ cert but this has me stumped, do i have to do a completet reinstall???

My o my, driver problems - Big time.

Download the soundcard drivers for your ess1869 from www.esstech.com (On the top of the page select Isa/Pci)

The color problem is not your monitor. Open your case look on the vid card what make and version number it is. Go to www.driverzone.com and search for it.

Thank you for getting to my request so quikly, the first part was right on the money how ever i have to reject the second on the video, it is not with the driver the problem lies in the bios setup, thank you again.
