"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

ADO is not mature yet.
I use both ADO and DAO in my projects so I can swith by changing single conditional directive (ADO=1 / ADO=0). I distribute only DAO version to customers for now - it is also faster on MDB database.

I use ADO full time since a little more than a year now and I don't want to go back to DAO and/or RDO.

What kind of problem do you have? Do you know that, since it is not "Mature" yet, you have to download SP from time to time (www.microsoft.com/data).

HAI GUYS,
This is the advantage ADO has with DAO
ADO is designed as an easy-to-use application level interface to Microsoft's newest and most powerful data access paradigm, OLE DB. OLE DB provides high-performance access to any data source, including relational and non-relational databases, email and file systems, text and graphics, custom business objects, and more. ADO is implemented for minimal network traffic in key Internet scenarios, and a minimal number of layers between the front-end and data source — all to provide a lightweight, high-performance interface. ADO is called using a familiar metaphor — the OLE Automation interface. And ADO uses conventions and features similar to DAO and RDO, with simplified semantics that make it easy to learn.

That's not really an answer . . .

Switching from DAO to ADO can be problematic at best, and sometimes it causes so many problems you might want to just rewrite the data access portions of your app.

What kinds of problems are you having?
