"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Fortunately, the Mac does not have anything like the Registry.

Mac screensavers are applications, or sometimes applications with control panel interfaces.  You can launch the screen saver applicatino at startup by placing an alias in the Startup Items folder in the System Folder.

You can download Mac screensavers from the InfoMac archives.  One shareware Mac screensaver is MacDim, available at:
<ftp://mirrors.aol.com//pub/info-mac/_Application/_Screen_Saver/mac-dim-221.hqx>.  There are other screensaver modules in that directory < ftp://mirrors.aol.com//pub/info-mac/_Application/_Screen_Saver/>.

AfterDark was a popular commercial Mac screensaver, but it is no longer being maintained.  Darkside fo the Mac used to be a popular freeware screensaver, but it doesn't seem to be available any longer.
