I'm not able to run D5 on a PC

Hello,

On a fresh new Win98 second edition I install ONLY Delphi 5.

I run Delphi : first, I get a message to modify some settings in my just in time debugging. If I answer Yes or No at this question, my computer freeze and I'm not able to do a ctrl-alt-del to reboot the PC.

My PC : PII 233, 64 MRam, 4 Giga HD.
Video S3, Virge/DK/GX REV B, 4 mega

BTW, on the same PC, with Delphi 3, sometimes, I was not able to install some components together. (The same components where installed on an other PC without problem). I never installed D4.

Could you give me somme tips to help me ?

Regards,

Jean-Pol

Wow, well THAT'S a strange thing. My partner programmer runs D5 under win98SE without any problems... Have you tried downloading the latest drivers for all your hardware? Or reinstalling Win98? I mean, I believe you that you just installed it fresh - but with Windows it's sometimes this way: You try it twice, the first time it doesn't work, the second time it does work (or vice versa).
A good possibility could be that your CD-ROM-drive does read errors, so perhaps there are some wrong bits on your Windows and/or Delphi installation...

Regards, Madshi.

Thanks for the answer,

It's on a second PC !
On my first PC , all runs fine with the same Win98 SE, many applications, many D5 components, GExperts, etc.

Try to set the Display settings:
Hardware acceleration --> None
Colors --> 256
