The CCNA exam: take now or take the new one in April-2000 (640-507)

Hope this question fits here:
I'm preparing to take the current CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) exam, 640-407; Cisco is 're-structuring' its certification area and will have a new CCNA exam in April-2000 (640-507). My question is:
Does anybody know how the new exam is going to affect those ones certified with the old one?; if I take the 'old' noe (640-407) and pass, will I have to take the new one in order to stay certified?.
Went to cisco web site, could not find the answer there. Yes, I do NEED to take the exam NOW, provided I don't have to retake it in a few months.
TIA for any input.

Adjusted points to 100
"Recertifications will be required every two years from the time when a certification exam (or the last in a series of certification exams) has been completed."

So it doesn't matter which exam you take, you still would have to take it 2 years later.  Go take it NOW.
