Desktop Icons

Hi I am new to linux and I just got finished installing it and I was wondering
how to get all of the un-wanted icons off of the desktop when it goes into
w-windows. I have looked everywhere but can't seem to find it, I am
new to this so please keep it in simple terms. No advanced stuff yet.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you are reffering to things like internet links (Default on a redhat installation)  all you have to do is click on them and hit delete.  That should erase them from your desktop.  If you are reffering to something else, please ask another question
