EVENT VIEWER

How can I get the event viewer not to show
the 'Driver or service has not
started appropriately' everytime the system reboots.  I've looked in the eventviewr and there is always 6005,6009 and 6006.  Is there a way I can shut off these error messages that are not that urgent?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

1. Run Registry Editor (REGEDT32.EXE).

2. From the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE subtree, go to the following key:

   \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows\ErrorMode

3. Select the ErrorMode value.

4. From the Edit menu, choose DWORD.

5. Type 0 (zero), 1, or 2, to configure your system to handle system hard error dialog boxes.

The following table defines the three possible values for ErrorMode:

   Value   Result
   -----   ----------------------------------------------------------------

0     Errors are serialized and wait for a response.

1     If the error does not come from the system, then the system       continues in normal operating mode. If the error comes from the  system, then it is written to the system log; no user
intervention is required and dialog boxes are not displayed.

2     The error is written to the system log; the dialog box is not displayed.
