IE/Netscape table background issue

Here is a little problem I have experienced in Netscape.  Is there a way to create a background image in a table without having netscape produce the image in each nested table within the table specifying the background image.  It works fine in IE :)

Do not set a BACKGROUND for the TABLE, set a BACKGROUND for the individual cells of the TABLE.

i.e.

<TD BACKGROUND="URL">
not
<TABLE BACKGROUND="URL">

Yes, this is a very nasty "feature" of NS. Here is a workaround:

Place a table in your document and set the background to the graphic you wish. Now place the actual table you wanted to display *within* that table.

IMPORTANT: Set the background of each cell of the inner table to a transparent gif!!!! Now you can see the background you wanted...

Sounds weird, is weird - but does the trick!
