HP610C Deskjet How to set default to black only

I have a new Hewlett Packard Deskjet 610C. I wish to know how I can default the printer to print in black whenever I turn the printer on. That is, I only want to print in colour occassionally turning of the automatic setting and making black the 'normal' printing option. Many thanks in anticipation.

go to start, settings, printers right click on your printer select properties go the tab that has the output settings set it b&w and then hit apply then ok then close out of the printers properties window....

NOTE: some applications you will have to set this from within the application some applications override the printers default settings so you would have to go to file then print then click on properties then set it for b&w and some applications will not retain these settings next time you start the application it may be back to color very few apps do this but it is just a warning so you know

I think you have no way to disable color, if printing instructs color output.

Perhaps you can intercept printer output and, with some specialized software, convert colored output to black only, but it's more a desire than a suggestion... :(
