HP Scanjet 300c invalid page faults

1. Scanner does not respond to either copy button on scanner or the scan button
2.Attempting to scan by loading the scan program results in HPPRSCLT caused invalid page fault in HP3300T.dll at 0167:01e716d3. Same from copy program. I have reloaded program with same results. Control panel shows scanjet3300 installed and drivers installed. Scanner will be 3 months old on Feb7.00.
3> When scanner was working eveery now and then the buttons would not initiate a scan and going to scan program always worked-now nothing.
4. If I load the program with scanner disconnected and let program load without detecting scanner, the program will load without the invalid page fault message.

Try uninstalling the scanner and reinstalling with background programs disabled i.e. ctrl, alt, delete end task everything except for background programs...

also have you had any prrevious devices on the same port as the scanner or any digital camera's etc... how is it connected lpt port usb ???

TRy one of these two solutions
ISSUE: When scanning from Hewlett-Packard PrecisionScan LT to Microsoft (R) Word Pad at 600 dpi resolution, an error is displayed "Invalid Page Fault In HP3300T.DLL or HPPRSCLT caused an invalid page fault in module HPSRC003.DLL at 015F: 0174FB7E" occurs.

WORKAROUND: When OK is chosen, the error message may not close. It may continue to appear repeatedly. Restart or reboot your computer to clear the message.

· Scan at a lower resolution or scan to file.

· Select a smaller area of the scanned information.

ISSUE: Using PrecisionScan LT and after clicking `Start A New Scan' an hour glass appears and then, after a wait, the system times out with an error message `HPPRSCLT not Responding"

SOLUTION: Click Start, go up to Run, then type msconfig in the dialog box and click `OK'. In the window there appears, select the `Startup' tab. Uncheck all boxes except System Tray, StillImageMonitor, Hplampc and HPSCANMonitor and then click `OK' (making notes on which boxes were changed). Open Windows Explorer by clicking Start and going up to Programs and then over to Windows Explorer. Once in Explorer, move down in the left column until you see the yellow folder labeled `Windows'. Click the + sign to the left of the folder and then continue moving down until you see the yellow folder labeled `Temp'. Delete all *.tmp files from this folder.

NOTE: The instructions for deleting the *.tmp files given here are for PC's using the standard Window 98 setup defaults. If your PC is different you may need to contact you PC Manufacturer for assistance in deleting the *.tmp files.

I tried both solutions-neither worked. My symptoms are different than those identified in the solutions, ie buttons do nothing, going to load scan program directly always does nothing except invalid page fault as described in my original description.
