Finding my printer for installation

I recently put in a new hardrive and added Windows98 SE.  It won't find my printer as new hardware.  When i try to load the software on my own it says there is no driver installed for this device, but it won't let my install one.  What do I do to install my printer? It is a Canon BJC1000 and worked fine with Windows95 on my old hard drive.

DJP, try this:

1. Make sure that the printer is connected to the LPT printer port and is turned on.

2. Double click on My Computer.

3. Double click on the Printer folder icon.

4. Now click on Add Printer.

5. Click Next

6. Click "Have Disk" and insert your printer disk for the Canon Bubble Jet.

7. Now you can select the printer if more than one are listed and complete the installation.

We went through the process of Add new hardware and trying to install through add new printer to no avail.  It isn't recognizing that the Lpt1 has a driver.
Thank you for this advice.  We will try it.
DJP, did you follow my procedure above?
Go into safe mode and remove everything under "ports" reboot into the bios and load all of the defaults. Save and exit and the lpt port should reload.
