Soundcard Input !!!

my soundcad cs4236 have 3 inputs :mic in ,line in ,line out what's the line in and can I using 2 mics with it??
1 Solution
Line in is usually for inputing in sounds from TV, stereo, etc, etc. Mic in is for microphone.. duh!!. To wrap this up, you can use both line in and mic in as input source BUT the sound the comes in thru mic would not be as good as line in. If you wanna use it for recording purpose, go with line in. Hope this is what you are looking for.
The mic input is designed to accept weaker signal levels than the line in. If you plug a mic into the line in your volume levels will probably be very low. If you plug a line input into the mic jack you will have disorted sound. The line levels overpower the mic circuit.
The difference between the Mic and Line in sockets is the way the Soundcard hardware treats them.

The Line In socket is used with an external power source such as a Hi-Fi, wheras the Mic socket is powered by the sound card.
