Internet Explorer configuration policy

In my LAN I have a lot of PCs running WIN NT 4.0 and IE4.0SP1. I must change Internet Explorer configuration to all of these changhing the internet connection mode from LAN to PROXY. Then I want that common users will not be able to remove this configuration. Is there any wat to do this? There are any specified policies?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The Internet Explorer 4.0 Resource Kit should give you what you need.  It contains .adm files to be used with Policy Editor that will do what you want to do.

winnt.adm and common.adm files don't contain any policy about Internet Explorer

Yes, I know.  That is why I mentioned the Internet Explorer Resource Kit.  It DOES have .adm files specific to Internet Explorer :o)

OK. I have found ieak.adm policy file but it does not work. So i have tried to change WS registry settings using poledit directly without any result. The version of IEAK is 3.2 and ieak.adm is dated 16/04/97. What's wrong?

Are you using an NT template AND running poledit on an NT machine?  NT templates are not interchangeable with Win95/98 templates and poledit MUST be run on the machine the policy is being built for.

sorry, that should have read "MUST be run on the OS the policy is being built for" not necessarily the exact machine.
