Solaris + SNMP

I need to set up SNMP (sub)agent on Solaris 7 which will tell community of a cumulative traffic on a certain network interface.
I need a working example or directions to such an example how to do that (or similar task - making custom data appear on SNMP interface).

Thank you.

By the way, your best bet which I had played with a little ways back was the UCD SNMP package. It comes with precompiled binaries or you can build from source yourself. It comes with some excellent management tools along with the flexible agent framework. The API is pretty well documented as well.

This software is available from:
http://ucd-snmp.ucdavis.edu/

Incedentally, I thought that Solaris came with its snmp agent, a la Sun's Solstice Enterprise Agent? I have not worked with this one little bit, but it seems to be what you need and I'd be surprised if it wasn't well documented? The tools above would still help you in testing your development of a subagent.

Developing an SNMP agent is pretty well documented - the SNMP FAQ discusses the steps in developing an SNMP agent, available APIs and frameworks, etc. You can view this at:
http://www.pantherdig.com/snmpfaq/index.html

In particular, pay attention to 2.10 to 2.20 which points to all sorts of source samples depending on the type of problem you're trying to solve.

By the way, here is the link for Sun's SEA although I realize you may already have it:
