Difference between Outlook97 and Outlook98

What is the difference between Outlook97 and Outlook98?  I have both, but had difficulty using Outlook98 on the Win95 peer-to-peer network using the Post Office and Inbox, so went back to Outlook97.  I don't know if the problem was in program compatibility  or with me. I am now having problems with Outlook97 and am tempted to try Outlook 98 again. I can't send Email from the Outlook97 Inbox (get "No transport provider available" message even though I am sure everything is configured properly).  I can send Email fine from Outlook Express.  BTW, I now use DSL, and everything was fine using dial-up access.  Any suggestions?

Thanks, Gregg

Have you tried setting up a fresh profile here: Control Panel > Mail applet?

Also, which mode were you using in Outlook 98?

Thanks for the reply.  I just now finished installing Outlook 98 and was looking for the means of installing Microsoft Mail when your message arrived. I have not had any luck finding Microsoft Mail.  Is it supported?

What do you mean "which mode" in Outlook 98?

Thanks, Gregg

Thanks!  I discovered the site just a few minutes ago--I'm already learning a lot. I had no idea there was so much involved in using Microsoft Mail with Outlook 98.  Hope it is worth it!

I may be back with more questions, but will see what I can do on my own. :)

To VinceA:

Thanks for your replies--Although you didn't give me the exact answers, they gave me the support and confidence I needed to forge ahead.  I believe I have everything working properly and solved the problem I had in Outlook 97.  98 seems to run much faster and smoother, so I believe my efforts will be worth it.

Thanks again,  Gregg
