it will not let me load dos or anything else

Sounds like your hard drive has decided not to cooperate, you need a boot disk (for the same OS as you are running), make sure it has FDISK.EXE and SYS.COM on it, boot to an A:, and type SYS and enter. When it returns you to the prompt, type FDISK/MBR and enter, when it returns you to a prompt, pull the floppy out and reboot.
