NT 4 vs NT 5

Is it still worth it to take an exam for Win NT Server 4? Or better switch to Win NT % exam?

I Must agree with Moresca. The NT4 track will still need for a time. No one will start directly with Win2000. There are indications that the most of the customers will go to W2K next year. In 2001. So take the NT4 track, you will need it far after 2001 and then upgrade to W2K. Like I will do and others I think. And yes you will need to go to 2000 and then the wistler-route (W2k next version)and then ...

I do agree with Moresca on most points except the trusted upgrade path.  I have my MCSE + Internet which I recently completed in December.  I could have opted to switch to the 2000 track, but I would have LOST the investment I made in taking some of the 4.0 classes.  The one thing to remember when starting or continuing certification is that the industry standard does not change very rapidly when referring to servers and backbone equipment.  NT 4.0 will be the standard for a long time to come and the certification is good until the 31st.  Then you can take the 2000 upgrade and keep your MCSE status intact.  I have been using 2000 Pro, Server, and Adv. Server at home over the past 6-7 months and have found very few difference in Pro & NT 4.0 WKS, and Server & NT 4.0 Server.  I have found a huge difference between Adv. Server and NT 4.0 Server, but that is where the upgrade will be focused I'm sure...
The problem with the upgrade approach is that it still takes almost as much if you choose the wrong electives.  I do have to say if you've started the NT4 course set and have completed at least 2 tests then finish the 4 first alot of it still applies.  If you haven't started the NT4 then start with the 2000 and you'll learn most of the NT4 anyway.
