I can't login!!

I have succeeded installing RedHat 6.0. But I have had to reinstall several times just because I can't login. Nothing wrong with the password. The Login field, I filled with "/".

Is that because I do not create other directories apart from root directory?
Up to now, there is no way I can login.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Why did yuo "fill" it? Just set a password you _know_ (since you can enter more characters then what is possible to encode as a password).

and you are using the username "root" to log on?
In the Login field type 'root', hit enter and when it asks for the password enter the one you put in at install time.
Reinstall and actually put a real root password on the system. Trying to get in and change the password from where you are at now is more of a hassle than it is worth. Don't "fill the box", type in a password.
