Notes Attachment default folder

Hello,  Where in Notes mail can I set the default path for file attachments? You know, so that I can specify which path I see first when I click on the paperclip!

Thanks, Struds

Thanks rfharris!  Can I confirm then, that you're saying Notes should remember the LAST folder I accessed when I attach a file? because it writes the path to the NOTES.INI each time I attach, or save, or open?
Yes - you can confirm this by checking the value of the FileDlgDirectory in NOTES.INI file.

You can also confirm by creating several memos or documents that involve attachments.  When you create the first atttachment the file dialog will likely default to your Notes data directory (c:\lotus\notes\data or similar).  Navigate to a new directory and select your first attachment.  Complete the steps of including the attachment and proceed to your next memo or document.  When you call for an attachment in this second document you should find the file dialog pointing to the previous directory.

As a related aside: If you are watching this value at the operating system level (by either viewing or editing the NOTES.INI file) - I strongly recommend against editing/saving the NOTES.INI file if the Notes client is running.

Thanks again.  This confirms the problem a user was having, in that the folder kept defaulting to TEMP.  I couldn't work out why, but now I realise it's because he is LAUNCHING attachments, which places the file in TEMP, therefore the INI is remembering C:\TEMP as the last folder accessed.

It's annoying, but I guess we'll just live with it.  I don't want to write to the ini anything other than I ought to, if you know what I mean!!!

Thanks for the input
