Animated Gifs

I need to be able to play an animated gif in an application.  My only specification is, I need code, not a control.  Actually, the only specification is that it has to be completely encapsulated in my exe, thus the reason why I don't wanna use a control (i don't want a installation program for it).  If anybody has any pointers, go ahead and give them to me, as I am in desperate need of help.

GIF format is owned by Unisys, www.unisys.com. You have to get a written permission from them to use this format. If you have one, I can e-mail you a code.

are you sure about GIF ? I was told many times that both parts are owned by Unisys. It is really important for me. Can you please give me some URL that I can use as official statement of this fact? Thank you in advance.
Sorry, I can't find the URL. I remember there was a site that removed its GIF writing code (the reading code was still there) and gave a link to the Unisys copyright page. It was because of Unisys' patent on the LZW compression method used in GIF.
