Does your WinTV have s-video input? From what I heard from friends both sound and picture travel in s-video.

To be able to capture both sound and picture, you'll need s-video cable.  It's quite simple to work it really, just connect your tv and your computer with s-video cable, oh and make sure you have s-video output on your TV. And that's it.

Does the s-video travel from the tv, through the tv tuner (s-video in) and into the computer via the usb or do i have to connect from the tv direct to the computer????

Should be travelling from TV through TV tuner (s-video in).  Go here http://www.geocities.com/virtualdub/index.html Download virtualdub, it's the best capturing tool around.
