Get the Label Color

How do I get the Label of a file? GetLabel() tells me the color and text of an item inthe Label menu but I want to be able to get the label of a file or folder and set the label to another color from within my application.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You want bits 1-3 of the fdFlags field of the FInfo record of the file.

Use
  GetFInfo(fileName, vRefNum, &fndrInfo)
to the the fndrInfo, and then look at
  (fndrInfo.fdFlags>>1)&0x07
