Windows NT with Miniframe (AS400, et al)

My organization is considering purchasing a miniframe such as an AS400 or something similar. My question would be can Windows NT be used as the operating system for a mini? If so what kinds of suggestions or recommendations would you have for mini selection?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

As the OS, no, however, IBM has the AS/400 OS400 with the ability to run NT on an IPCS card or with the IBM Netfinity server.  We have 3 AS/400's, one firewall and two production servers.  The interaction is easy but requires OS400 V4R4. OS400 V4R3 with Client Access can give you good results also.

There are NCR mini's and some other boxes that normally run UNIX that also can run NT.  I would guide you toward the ALPA system since it would cost around the same amount of money but provide more power per $.
