Computed text fields do not store information.

This is an urgent request.

I have a database which displays documents in views based on the contents of computed text fields. The problem is that when you are outside the document, you cannot see the contents of the field, but if you open the document, the contents are there.

The only way I can think of to get around this, is to have a second field for each computer field that will "cache" the last value that the computer field had, to be used by the views. This is a very messy solution though, and I think it will have other problems as well. Is there a way that I can get Notes to "remember" what used to be in that field?

Notes *does* store the value of a computed field--unless you have set it as "Computed for display," of course.

As far as the views are concerned, it matters not if a field is editable or computed... that's document-UI stuff and the document isn't open in the UI as part of a view, period.

There's no such thing as a stupid question right? :)
