Create a LPR printer port

How do I add a LPR printer port if the port type is not available? I tried to add a new 'monitor', selected \I386\monitor.inf but no LPR port.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Add the printer as a local printer and when asked to choose the port, add a new port and select an LPR port.  I've never had a problem, provided you have admin capability on the machine.
you have to install "MS tcp/ip printer services" in the services tab of the network properties. After that LPR Port appears when you want to add a printer.
