the render lightning effects only work on layers which support colors. when you choose a channel it'll be handled like a grayscale image. therefore the plugin doesn't work on it.

however, there is a workaround. you can copy the channel and paste it into a new image. convert this image to rgb and do your lightning effects..

afterwards you convert this image back to grayscale, copy it and paste it into the original channel.

that's it..

I just checked..

I do it this way: select your channel you want to apply light to.. then do select all and copy.

now make a new image. the size of the image will be the same as the image you have in the clipboard. (at least on pc... I don't know what happends on mac).

then I simply paste the channel into the new image, convert it to rgb color and apply the light filter.

convert back to grayscale, again do select all and copy and paste it into the original channel.

works without problems here. (ps4, pc)

no problem... :)

have a nice day (and don't work to much).

btw.. if it's possible I really would like to see what you're doing with the lightning on channels. I can't think about a use of it... if you don't mind, and if your artwork can be sent to me, why don't you make a small .jpeg and send it to ?
