Automatic Disconnecting

How can I get my modem to disconnect after not being used for a period of time, like about 10 minutes (or whatever)?  Is there a way to do this?

For a 3COM/US Robotics modem, add 'S19=13' into the "extra-modem-settings" string, to have the modem disconnect after '13' minutes of data inactivity on the phone line.

That doesn't explain anything to me, I don't even know what kind of modem it is, is there not a simple setting I can change?

Is there anyone who knows if there is a setting to use in order to disconnect from the internet after a period of no use?

> I don't even know what kind of modem it is,

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Modem -> Diagnostics -> (select modem) -> More Info

and post the output, and you'll find the type of modem.

There is, but you "rejected" the answer.

It is possible to set your advanced dial up settings to disconnect after a period of inactivity, assuming you are using Windows 95/98. This is not a modem setting change.

double click my computer, open dial up network folder. right click on your connection icon, choose properties, then choose configure, then select connection tab, tick box that says disconnect a call if idle and set your prefered time to disconnect.

hope this helps.
