DHTML to move graphics...

I want to use three small graphics (one letter each, in a nice font, transparent backgrounds)on a page so that when they are fully loaded they appear to be one word, simple enough so far, however as the page loads the letters will swoop in from three different directions to reach their final position. I know this is possible with DHTML but cannot find out how to do it. It will need to work in NE and IE.

Can anyone help....

mtech,

I've got something for you to look at.

What's your e-mail?

Here is the link to a DHTML Cross-Browser Scripting Library. There are several samples of image animation in the demonstration section:

It is not normal to answer a question unless you have provided an explicit answer. Would you give one of your trainees an HTML manual and say now go write me a website?

Thanks for the link but maybe I should have made it clear - I know NOTHING about DHTML. Pointing me at a reference site is no use at all! The nearest I could find to my needs was a menu navbar that floated down the screen but how I am supposed to modify that to my needs? Can you either provide a clearer example or more information, failing that can anyone else provide some assistance. I will increase the points in hope....

I know that a link may not be what you want but... this is a rather god one:
http://www.dansteinman.com/dynduo/en/dynlayer-slide.html
and I think thats what you are looking for.

I would have to agree it is a good example - but why do samples always have to bolt on lots of extras, why can't they give a _simple_ example of slide from x,y to x,y n fast in p pixels???

I will see if I can modify this to my use but not being familiar with DHTML I will not be holding my breath while I do it!

Hi mtech.

I've developed a cross-browser method to move layers around.

Take a look at my (heavily under construction) site at
http://www.innovationcorp.com/Intro.htm

Let me know if this is what you're looking for (letters/graphics/words) moving around on screen, and I'll show you exactly how I did it.

It involves creating cross browser objects.

It's really pretty simple, you'd be able to implement it fairly easily.

Let me know.

Yes I saw that page when I checked out the link - that's what I mean when I say samples often have too much in them. All I need is for 3 images to float in from three corners to form up in the centre.

Yes similar idea just 3 graphics (1 letter each - cos the font is not standard). I will look at your code and also the link from jce tomorrow (UK time).

thanks

Hi guys, be sure you get the .js scripts too.  That's where the magic happens.  :)

mtech,

If you want, you can send me your three graphics and I'll whip up a page that moves them around.

It'll be simpler for you to look at because all my other stuff won't be in there.

Then you can change the movements to look how you want.

suresh,

Let me know if you have any trouble with the view|source and I'll send you the scripts.

still got some work to do on the graphics but if you just make 3 graphics at 1cm square that will be enough and I can change the images later.
thanks

At last a sample that I understand, ironically I just got a copy of macromedia Dreamweaver/Fireworks Studio and will probably use that as it will write the code for me! I will award you the points.

thanks again
