General Java resources

I'm trying to lay my hands on some decent Java sites but I am not having much luck. Ideally I'd like 3 different types of sites.

1) A concise site that allows you to get to grips quickly with the language.

2) A more detailed site that would allow you to build up Java knowledge over a period of time.

3) A language reference site with code samples for reference purposes.

Any submissions for all or any of these site types would be greatly appreciated.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
