"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

First unpack the download. This produces a directory containing "documentation" and "office51" sub-dirs. There is an install guide in pdf format in the "documentation" directory.

Change to the office51 dir and you're ready to install. You've got two choices as to how to install it. It can be installed without privs in your home dir by just running "setup", but then only the user that installed it will be able to use it. The other method of installing stuffs all the binaries and other common data into a directory you specify and then each user then gets a small personal part of SO in their home dirs. You need to run the second install (setup /net) as root.

Once installed you run it by executing "/path-to-inst/bin/soffice".

There are some patches for the 5.1a that you can get from
