Shifting words

I have already made my site pages and when I upload them to the server they look good, but..  When I send someone else to the site on a different computer they said all my words shifted.
Considering the pages are already made is there a way to fix this without tables?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This can be a common problem as HTMl does not take into account differing user font settings, browser settings, screen resolution etc.  I would suggest the following codes of good practice

a) always design in 800 by 600 resolution but test your site in others too

b) always use common fonts which will be on the users machine such as Times New Roman, Arial or Verdana

If you are really concerned about a batter layout then you might consider stufying Cascading Style Sheets.  There is a good section on this at http://www.htmlgoodies.com
