FrontPage Run-Time Component Page

Hi,

I just installed Frontpage 2000, never
used before.

I created a discussion project using the discustion web wizard, I loaded the project to my site then filled in the comments box then pushed the Post Artical button.

I get this message.

FrontPage Run-Time Component Page
You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a web server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function properly.

This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you publish this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed.

Click the <Back> arrow to return to the previous page.

Why.

Hello ASW:

Many portions of FrontPage 2000 require the FrontPage Server Extensions on the Web Server.
The error that you are getting is caused by the fact that frontpage could not find the server extensions.

If you are authoring against a development server (like the Personal Web Server for windows98 on your local machine) make suree the server extensions are installed.

If you have created a disk based web, then you will always get those errors until you deploy/publish the web to a "live" server that has the server extensions installed.

Hi Dantindal,

So it is safe to say ,the company who host my website should have the Extentions on his server?

Not all hosting sites have FrontPage Extensions installed.  You will need to check with them to ensure they are if you need to use the FP specific features of FrontPage.  You can FTP upload pages that do not use those features onto any server however.  You will not be able to use the forms and a lot of other features.
