windows protection error

when I start win98 i get this error mssg:
"Windows protection error you need to restart your computer"
When I do it will only boot up into "safe" mode
HELP
This happens to another computer, not this one.

lets try this first hermano
boot up comp and as its first starting hold down the ctrl key and when the menu comes up select command prompt ,
At  C:\  type  "scanreg/fix "  without quotations   and lets see if that will help  if not let us know

also when this first started ,had you installed any program,, anynew hardware,,made any changes if so we need to know ,but do the scanreg/fix , it mite do the trick      James

my wife had downloaded some icon files last night and disk utilities are programmed to run on Saturday mornings, alsi I deleted some temp and other files under this site's cleanup program in addition  real Audio and real juke box was updated

tried the reg/fix to no avail it said it fixed the registry but I still get that error mssg

ok  deleting some temps and other files with cleanup program is ok, but sounds like somewhere in between the fonts and the updates this problem started so the only thing that comes to mind is do the scanreg trick again but this time type scanreg/restore, a menu will come up and pick the file with a date a few days ago and tell it to restore
