Can't u use the MSComm control ?
Then you can access any COM-port and use the AT-command set or RS232 commands to do some i/o routines !

Yes u can use the mscomm control but you can only do limited normal commands to the modem. The voice modems have the capability to act as an anwsering machine like with winfax pro. You can phone in and give a tone code and it will accept your password and give you the messages waiting. There must be some control out there that enable you to do this
