I want that people should be able to list items at my site and people can make offers for them. Now if someone removes his item then an E-mail should get sent out to all those who made and offer saying  that the Item they made an offer on has been removed. I'd appreciate any help you guys can offer !!!
Thanks

WiddleAvi,

This is actually very easy to do.   Are you using asp?  If you
are, then there are some good, free email packages available
to send email automatically from your site.  I like jmail the best.
It's available from dimec.  But you can see a comparison of
the available asp email components at:
http://www.15seconds.com/component/pg002142.htm

If you are just using straight html, you'll need to use some
cgi scripts.

p.s. http://macrealm.com/cgi/
has some perl/cgi scripts that send mail from
straight html pages.

Understanding Web Applications

Without even knowing it, most of us are using web applications on a daily basis. Gmail and Yahoo email, Twitter, Facebook, and eBay are used by most of us daily—and they are web applications. We often confuse these web applications tools for websites.  So, what is the difference?

That is the correct link...unfortunately, it seems to be broken at the
moment.

Here is the dimac info:

http://tech.dimac.net/
The site navigation is a little awkward, but there
is a lot of information and examples on setting up
and using the jmail component.

Another component I've heard mentioned is:
http://www.aspemail.com/
I have not personally used this one.

WiddleAvi,

I haven't actually had to do that myself.  Our sysadmin in the past
has done it.   But I think it's only a matter of registering the dll and then
moving a copy of jmail to the server root.  Still, jmail has a pretty
responsive tech support.  Try mailing them with your question.
Our sysadmin is out of town this week, or I'd just ask him.  at any
rate, there is good information at dimec.net on how to do it.

good luck,
Dena
