I have a HTML showing images.
However, it can't show bmp images in netscape,
and it can show in internet explorer.

my source :
<img src="xxx.gif">
or
<img src="yyy.bmp">

that is due to the fact that BMP format is Microsoft specified and since IE is tightly integrated with Win* systems, IE can show you the image while NS cant.

However a gif file *should* be shown in Netscape, unless the appropriate settings are missing from your NS browser.

Check Edit->Preference->application->Navigator

under Description check if you have something called as GIF Image.

Yes, i don't have problem in showing gif s,
so, i can never show bmp images in netscape? no matter i use any method?

by itself NS cant show BMP files. However there are 3rd party plugins for NS that allow you to view BMP's amongst other formats.
