I just reinstalled Win98SE on my Toshiba Tecra 8000 in preparation for setting it up to dual boot with Windows 2000. It was working fine before I wiped it.
Now, though, the internal V.90 modem is not recognized. I have downloaded and installed the latest Win98 driver from Toshiba, but that hasn't helped. The main symptom is that no modem appears in Device Manager. Instead, I see a yellow question mark on PCI Multimedia Device. I tried reinstalling the driver for that, but Windows found no compatible driver in \Windows, on the CD or in the folder for the extracted modem driver files.
