For now, Pocket Internet Explorer does not support the Java language, ActiveX objects, DHTML, CSS, plug-ins, or VBScript. There is also no support for data binding or XML.

In its latest incarnation, Pocket Internet Explorer supports JScript, but not VBScript. The JScript object model in Pocket Internet Explorer is roughly equivalent to that provided in Internet Explorer 3.02. It is, however, by no means a complete implementation of Internet Explorer 3.0.

From what I've read, Pocket IE is intended for an embedded system that can not afford to spare the required RAM (~2.5Mb) of Internet Explorer for CE.  In a minimum configuration without JScript support, Pocket Internet Explorer only takes 71KB of RAM. Adding JScript support brings the total to 413KB, still a far smaller footprint than Internet Explorer for Windows CE.

So to answer your question, I don't think Java will ever be supported in Pocket IE in its current form because you will need to increase the amount of RAM available.  Once you can increase the amount of RAM available on your handheld system, your probably better off to go with IE for CE as it already supports richer features that approach the support you find in desktop browsers.

I found most of this info at the following site:

Good Luck.
