If they are in different trees, the user selects the MW3X or NW5 tree on login using the Advanced button on the client GUI.  No problem.

The user can select the tree, context and server from the Advanced button. and that's NW3X, not MW3X, sorry about the speling.

You probably should upgrade to a Novell Client. I like the new one 4.7 quite a lot. You can set up location profiles on the client to let your users pick the correct tree, context, and server. As long as the client has TCP/IP and IPX/SPX installed it should be able to see both servers. I'm a little unclear of exactly what you're looking to do in this situation.

Novell has an upgrade Wizard that will help you migrate a 3.21 server to a NW5 server.  The good news it preserves the 3.21 server.  CLient 4.7 is for NT workstations only.  The curent W95/98 client is ver 3.2.  Go to:
https://commerce.motorola.com/scrweb

for the client and NW5 patch, you need at least SP2 on NW5 for the wizard to work properly. ALso her:

http://www.novell.com/download/

This also has the Wizard.

They should not "just copy", they should use the Novell Upgrade Wizard to do the across the wire upgrade.

Good luck.
