Buttons not working

The Copy, Email, Fax & File buttons on my 4 days old (12 Feb 2000) HP ScanJet 6300 C do not open the related applications.
Please advise solution.

uninstall the scanner software then once you are back into windows hit ctrl,alt,delete and end task everything except for explorer and systray then reinstall the scanner software


also go to start settibgs control panel there is a control panel program for setting up those buttons in there i believe

Dear Sir: Thanks for your advice which I followed. Performance of the push buttons is not consistent. At times the application is opened, at times it is not. The Copy Button does not always open the printer box. The File Button does not open the MS Word 2000 box directly, it shows other applications. The Email works consistently.
The Fax Button says that my fax software -Phone Tools which is part of the Gateway Computer package is not supported (it is not listed in the supported applications).
