Netscape 4.05 Error Message

I have a 7500 Power Mac with 32 Meg of Memory and 44 Virtual Memory
I'm running System 7.5.3 and using Netscape Communicator 4.05 with a 56K Global Village Modem.  I have open transport- 1.1
My computer crashes very often when starting up Netscape. This is the message I get as Netscape is trying to connect.

Sorry, a system error occurred. Netscape Communicator error Type 11.

I don't get this message when I shut down the computer after I have been on the internet.

Thanks

An error type 11 is a low memory error. It means that either netscape or your system is starving for RAM. Netscape is a known ram hog so its not surprising you get Type 11s with only 32 megs of real ram. 44 Megs of Virtual MEM only means youre cheating and adding 12 megs onto your 32. So you do have 44 megs of ram TOTAL...sort of...and netscape is choking. This is especially poignant with Netscape Communicator which is even more ram hungry than Netscape Navigator. Adding another 32 megs of ram (or more) will alleviate the problem for the most part. Try giving it as much Virtual Memory as you can and see what happens (no promises as netscape likes real ram) You could also switch browsers and try Netscape Navigator or iCab from www.icab.de ..iCab only takes 5 megs of ram as opposed to communicators 25+ (which is what it needs allocated to itself just to run smoothly)

For the sake of giving it a try allocate more memory to netscape by selecting it and choosing "get info" from the file menu. Tell it to use a preferred size of 25000k of ram and see what happens. I know you probably dont have that much free on the system but itll take as much as it can get.
