6250cse locks up on final scan

everything works fine up to and including preview scan.  when I click on final scan, the window opens up the scanner moves a little bit and stops.  the final scan doesn't happen for about 5 minutes(actual time).

When it finally scans it all works fine, this scanner has been working great for the past 16 months.  This is a new issue, nothing hardware or software has been added to the computer.

I would appreciate any help J435@aol.com

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Go to my computer double click on it right click on the the C: drive and select properties you should ahve at least 200MB free.... close that out then close out my computer

with the scanner software running right click on my computer select proerties go to the performance tab and see the percentage system resources it shouldn't be lower then 80%...

If it is then you may need more ram

you should have at least 32MB of RAM....

Go to start shutdown and select to restart in msdos mode then at the c:\windows prompt type cd.. and hit enter you will now be in the c:\    directory type cd temp (this directory may or may not exist, then type del *.tmp and hit enter then type cd windows hit enter then type cd temp hit enter then type del *.tmp and hit enter this will clear out your temp files... then type exit and hit enter

once back into windows then go to start programs accessories , system tools , scandisk do a standard scan once that is done then go to start, programs, system tools, disk defrag..... select to defrag the c: drive it should report how fragmented it is   please write this down it is very important... and then post it up here...

is this does not resolve then get back to me on this and reject the answer but this should fix it
