sql server problems

I'm trying to build a three tiers application. It's the first time i'm using the sql server. (I usualy use the oracle). I instaled an sql server 6.5 version from 04/1998. After the instalation i'm required to register the server, otherwize i wouldn't be able to work with it, and build databases. Whatever servername and login+password i give, I get an error that the db-lib is missing or that the server doesn't exist. How can i now the server and password name inorder to register the sql server 6.5
thank you very much.

you must have actual server connection to register it. to see your sever status, check out in network
neighbourhood on the desktop.
if it doesn't work try uninstalling and reinstalling the SQL.

Hello,
I forgot to say that i instaled the sql on my windows98 comupter (not hooked to a network) in order to learn about the sql server before instal it on the nt server. is it still posiible to be done?

You cannot use SQL 6.5 as stand-alone on a W98 machine !
U have to install 6.5 on a NT-server and then the client-software on your W98 machine.

If you want to use a W98 stand-alone version, use SQL Server 7.
Also way better/faster !

D'Mzzl!
