recording sound for the web

Hi,
I want to record my voice for my webpage. I have a Mac G3 Blue and White.
I figure i will record it using the microphone and convert it to mp3 in Flash and stream it.
Any ideas?

Thanks Weed,
One more question:
It will not let me record as I have no options in the Sound control panel! How do I put the options in?
I have an Apple G3 running 8.6
Thanks Jason
Do you have a PlainTalk mic plugged in? What are your current options in the sound control panel?

Yes, I plugged it in.
I set the option in the sound control panel to "sound in" and I can hear myself through the microphone however, it says there is no source for recording!
Jason
On the main coaster panel you should have a section called "Input Source Settings"...Is that set to "sound in"?

Yes, "sound monitoring source" is set to "sound in" on the "monitors and sound" control panel. Also on the sound control panel "sound in" says there is no source for recording
very strange
Nono...on the main coaster recording panel...There should be a place to select the sound input...you need to set it THERE to "sound in".....Also you shouldnt have a monitors & sound control panel AND a sound control panel. That would be indicative of mixed and matched system software which is bound to cause you problems.

Yeah, interestingly enough the coaster program will not let me open it. It says "recording with coaster is not available -the sound input device cannot be opened".

and I took the extra sound control panel out -it only had extra options for sound

Basically the reccuring problem is that my mac will not recognize the sound input device!
Jason
The fact that yer system had BOTH a Sound and a Monitors & Sound control panel is indicative that there are other issues with the system. Somewhere along the line you got some system software mixed which is most likely causing the problem. Its usually bad voodoo to mix system software versions and who knows what other bits are mixed in your OS. Youre going to want a clean system both so you can use Coaster and also so you can keep your system as stable as possible.

You could be right.
But I added the extra sound control panel manually as it adds functionality in options to the main control panel. I really don't think that is the problem.
However, you may be right and a clean install may be needed?
