Trying to use scan pro and the message appears "sorry no scanner found, scanner not initialized" I followed the instructions on the HP web page under troubleshooting and I have the "regedit.exe" file in windows but I don't have "hpie.reg"  Even when this thing works if I shut down my computer I once again loose the scanner! What's up with this thing???

What scanner (6200 or 6300 series scanner) is this and which interface (scsi or usb) are you using?

Hi Mad MAX I've found the problem to be a defective scanner. The scanner is a 6300 and using a usb, do you think it's worth going to a scsi card? Advansys offers a scsi card for this product only, for 59.95 let me know thanks John

John,
I have always preferred scsi to usb. scsi is faster and more reliable. The advansys card you mentioned is most likely a 915 pci card. The Advansys 915 scsi interface card is a stable, reliable little pci card that allows for irq sharing and works in most operating systems. I think the advansys card is a good answer.

Good luck,
Steve
