frames & dynamic view

I am building an intranet (DOMINO)displaying telephone directory information.

There are four frames of which when you click on Frame 1, it displays the content in another frame as well as display sub category alphabet listing in another frame.

e.g.

Frame 1 = displays as A|B|C|D|E|F|G|H etc.  When you click on the alphabet link, it displays the telephone listing by Surname in the content frame.  Also it displays sub alphabet list i.e. if I clicked on A, then surname beginning with A's are displayed in the content frame.  The sub category will be displayed as Aa, Ab, Ac, Ad, Ae, Af, Ag etc in another frame.  When you click on the sub category, it will display surname that begins with that sub category in the content frame.

My question is, how do I display the sub category list (Aa, Ab, etc dynamically) depending on which alphabet link is clicked initially.  I hope I have explained this well. Thanks

One way in which you could do this through if statements

e.g

@if(Frame1 = A;Frame2 = Aa;Frame1 = B;Frame2 = Bb

You Could use javascript on the onclick event for each hotspot letter.
and then use this code twice one for frame 1 and one for the subcategory.
parent.<your framename>.
location.href=<the new url>
