to get the total amount of pages, you first have to prepare the report (thus this results in 2x for creating the report!)

TotalPages := QuickRep1.QRPrnter.PageCount;
{or? TotalPages := QuickRep1.QRPrnter.PageNumber}
QuickRep1.QRPrinter := nil;

This is the only way to get the total amount of pages, however it can be that in certain circumstances the count can be wrong (1 count less)

for the pagenumber : drop a TQRSysData component on the form and set data property to 'qrsPageNumber'
